approximately 1500 B.C. to the present time. Fragments of artworks from Egypt, Rome, India, Japan, Africa and early America are combined with 17th- and 18th-century Italian and English and 20th-century American works.
The final section presents 20thcentury American art made from fragments. “Taking fragments from their everyday lives — discarded cardboard boxes, damaged photos and pieces of crumbling buildings — they create new works of art which comment on life in this century,” Ms. Frazier says. Works by Joseph Cornell and Robert Rauschenberg are included in the final section.
