Hospice care in Rappahannock, Madison, Orange, and Culpeper has been available for over eight years. More than 250 patients and their families benefit from Hospice of the Rapidan’s special kind of caring.
According to Hospice’s Chairman of the Board, Bill Morton, “Area hospice care progresses to meet the technological advances in pain control. Hospice is an expert in physical pain control, spiritual needs, financial resources, and family education.
“Personal care such as shaving, shampooing, bathing, or changing bed linens performed by hospice’s home health aide provides a break for the caregiver,” he said.
Hospice care is available as needed. Visits may occur on a weekly or daily basis. Frequent communication with the patient’s physician eliminates potential complications and frequent hospitalizations.
National studies conclude that patients and their families participating in hospice home care save money. Hospice of the Rapidan, partially funded by United Way, offers two benefits allowing additional cost savings.
