Musically, at least on her self-titled tape, her sound is a cross between bluegrass, Windham Hill and modem folk. Ms. Keating said AV, with her collaborator/ex-husband Jay Keating, includes a drummer. She called daddylonglegs “folk-fusion.”
Ms. Keating is a professional musician, making her living by writing, performing and touring. She acts as her own agent, booking gigs long distance then hitting the road in her pickup.
In the weeks following Friday’s show, for example, her act will take her to Charlottesville, Bethesda, D.C., Rockville and Chapel Hill, N.C.
In two months Ms. Keating begins a truly national tour of clubs and festivals: Nashville, the Keysville Festival in Austin, the Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Alaska, Minneapolis, Chicago and Ohio. For most of the trip she will be alone in the truck, but she’s at least taking a plane to Alaska from Seattle.
