Saturdays, the high school physical education teachers will handle drivers’ ed during the school day. For those students who can’t schedule drivers’ ed during the regular school day, the elementary school physical education teacher can start her work day an hour later and teach drivers’ ed after school.
Another savings comes from shifting $7,000 of the salary of one of the high school guidance teachers from local monies to funds from antidrug and dropout prevention grants.
In order to begin offering Spanish at the high school, the current volunteer coordinator will work part-time at the high school, and the elementary principal will coordinate volunteers.
Other savings come from eliminating the artist-in-residence program ($3,000), eliminating the subsidy for the seventh grade trip ($3,000), eliminating the after school athletic bus and reducing field trips
