Two award-winning newspapermen have switched jobs at the leading publications in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties, announced Arundel'Newspapers publisher Arthur W. Arundel this week.
Mark Scolforo, 26, has been named managing editor of the Rappahannock News. Mr. Scolforo for the last two years served as assistant editor to Richard Johnson, executive editor of both the Rappahannock News and the Fauquier Times-Democrat in Warrenton.
In the same move Lou Hatter, 35, leaves the Rappahannock News to become managing editor of the Times-Democrat. The two papers make up Arundel Newspapers’ Southern Division.
In Mr. Scolforo’s three-plus years in at the Times-Democrat he covered police, schools, the courts, county and town government and other beats.
Mr. Hatter was managing editor of the News for five years, starting in April 1986. He previously worked as a reporter-photographer for two weekly papers in Pennsylvania.
“Lou is the dean of Arundel Newspapers editors in terms of longevity, and he is ready for expanded duties. Mark has progressed to the point where he is able to take on his own paper,” said Mr. Johnson.
