Kindergarten Registration
Pre-school registration for all children planning to attend kindergarten at Rappahannock County Elementary School in the fall of 1991 will be held on Tuesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 13. Thursday, March 14 will be reserved in case an additional day is needed. Registration will be by appointment only during the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Appointments may be arranged by calling the school at 987-8259. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Parents of children who will reach their fifth birthday after September 30 but on or before November 30 may petition the school for early admission to kindergarten. These parents will bjg counseled by the school division on the advisability of the child attending school. If, after counseling, the parents still wish the child to attend, the child will be tested to determine his/her readiness for kindergarten. The test will be one that is approved by the Virginia Department of Education and the decision on early admission will be based on the results of the test. Both the counseling and the testing may be done during the kindergarten screening hours. In order that proper planning be done for material and staffing, it is essential that all prospective kindergarten children be registered on March 12 and March 13.
