Bottleneck
To the Editor:
We have been ardently faithful recyclers since the start of recycling programs in Rappahannock County. It was thus disturbing today to be turned away from the recycling center at the county landfill. The area was overflowing with glass that had not been collected, and we were directed to throw our bottles, collected over a month, into the dumpsters. The entire recycling area was roped off to prevent the dropping off of glass, so it all went into the trash/
Why does the recycling pick-up continue to be a problem? Perhaps we need a new company to collect the materials. Some alternative must be made available to the citizens of this county who feel that recycling is mandatory.
It is an environmental shame that because voluntarily recycled products are not collected in a timely fashion we must continue to waste our landfill space with glass bottles that can be reused.
Please, Rappahannock County^ let’s do something about this situa tion. The status quo is unacceptable.

Mr. Putnam has been wondering “to himself’ why there was such a “plethora” of yellow ribbons in the land. (The expression “to himself’ has to be taken with a grain of salt, as the Rappahannock News is a public forum).
