John Smoot
John Samuel Smoot, 63, of Covington died Sunday, March 4 at the Allegheny Regional Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted today, Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at the Stephens City Funeral Home by Dr. Ken H. Smith. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Washington.
Mr. Smoot was born Dec. 21, 1927 in Washington, the son of the late Sam B. and Liza F. Smoot. He was a member of Washington Baptist.
Surviving are two brothers, William Franklin Smoot and Junior Francis Smoot, both of Stephens City; one sister, Flora Mae Smoot of Woodstock and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be George Smoot, Joseph Smoot,' Wayne Smoot, Danny Wheeling, Junior Smoot, William Riley, Phillip Smoot and Silas Foster.
Robert Early Sr.
Graveside services are scheduled for Robert Edward Early Sr. today, Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton. The Rev. Steven Parker will officiate.
Mr. Early 55, a veteran of the United States Navy, a painting contractor, farmer and life-long resident of Opal, died on March 3, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, leaving behind his wife of twenty nine years, Alice Buchanan Early; his son, Robert E. (Huck) Early Jr.; his sister, Agnes E. Martin of Fairfax; his seven brothers, Herbert F. Early of Goodyear, Arizona, Donald F. Early of Fairfax, Alan David Early of Fairfax Station, John F. Early of Amissville, Richard C. Early of Culpeper, Warren B. Early of Broad Run and Stephen G. Early of Warrenton and a host of family and friends.
Mr. Early was predeceased by his parents, Esther Smith and Herbert F. Early Sr. and a brother, William S. Early.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 715, Culpeper, Va. 22701.
