What do a daffy dentist, a dizzy housewife and a materialistic, unfeeling used-car salesman doing on Gay Street in Washington?
They’re planning “A Murder at the Howard Johnson’s.”
Opening to a nearly-full house, the first production of the Olde Towne Theatre group raised the curtains last Friday on the newly-remodeled and renamed Theatre at Washington, Va.
The play sets are simple yet complete. The characters are few yet developed. The comedy is dry yet entertaining. The show is on stage this weekend, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m.
And, to “allow the show to work,” Sheree Rainbolt-Kren announced an extended show dates, March 15 and 16.
The two-act comedy by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick stars Frank Kren of Washington as Mitchell Lovell, the womanizing dentist; Tom Sawyer of Warrenton as the jilted husband and Mrs. Rainbolt-Kren as the fickle wife and lover. Maids are played by Dinah Pehrson-Day of Castleton and Barbara Pierce of Marshall.
