with hearing problems are able to participate in public meetings and jury trials. He said the supervisors must appoint a Disability Services Board by November and at least one-third of the members must be people with disabilities or their families and at least two members must be from the business community.
The supervisors added three new members to the Library Board bringing the membership of that board to nine. John Hartline, Frank Warner, and Steve Slade were appointed. The first two were appointed at the afternoon session. The supervisors had expressed interest in adding members from Jackson and Wakefield districts to the board. At the afternoon meeting Mr. Gilkey and Col. Bingham said they did not have representatives from their districts to nominate. Mr. Hartline and Mr. Warner were appointed. At the evening meeting Col. Bingham said he had heard from Mr. Slade, who is a retired attorney, that he is interested in serving on the board.
Mary Jamieson, a Library Board member who was attending the meeting in support of the library’s budget, suggested it would be more appropriate for people interested in serving on the board to first volunteer in the library and work with the Friends of the Rappahannock Library.
Col. Bingham said he felt sure Mr. Slade would be a positive addition to the Library Board. All three appointments were unanimous.
At the public hearing to consider nominations for the School Board there were no nominations from the floor. Beverly Massie and Frances Thornton were nominated by their respective representatives on the Board of Supervisors for reappointment. Since they were the only people nominated, they will be reappointed.
In other action the Board of Supervisors:
• Agreed to meet Wednesday June 24 at 7 p.m. in the courthouse to appoint School Board members from Jackson and Piedmont districts, adopt a county budget for the next fiscal year and to pay end-ofthe-year bills.
• Adopted a resolution in support of amendments to the Dillon Rule to give more authority to counties.
• Appointed Lucy Ann Maeyer and Ronald Makela to the Recreation Facilities Authority.
• Adopted the secondary road budget for the coming year.
• Approved rezoning for the property next to the Amissville fireball that is now the More gasoline station to be used as a post office for Amissville.
