“The people in Jackson District, who take their trash to the landfill, are subsidizing the people in the rest of the county,” Mr. Massie said.
Col. Bingham said, “I’d like to see the open sites closed, but I don’t think we can do it until we come up with a viable alternative.” He suggested that an alternative site be found and that a compactor be used to cut down on trash hauling costs.
The supervisors agreed to look for a site to replace the dumpster sites at Huntly and Scrabble.
Accountant Wally Cox said that he had learned the county would be spending funds this coming year for the E-911 system. He said he would prepare a final budget that would show the income and expenses for the system.
The supervisors will meet Jund 24 at 7 p.m. to formally adopt a buch get and set tax rates. They have reached a consensus to support a 50 cent tax rate for real estate.
