Early in May, several Rappahannock technology students attended the Technology Student Association state conference in Richmond.
This year the event was called Technosphere ’92. The conference, which was held May 1st through 3rd, included elections of new officers, demonstrations, social events, and competitions. The students did very well in the competitions, which included contests similar to those at the regional TSA conference, as well as some group competitions which are not practiced on the regional level.
Philip Smiley won a first place trophy for his humorous safety poster. Clint Carlson’s unusual design for his checkerboard caught the judges’ eyes and won third place in the Materials Processes competition. Jesse Rogers won third place in the Aerospace Technology contest for his balsa wood glider.
