Route 635 near the Fauquier County line, Woodward said. The area was searched from the ground and by a Virginia State Police helicopter with heat-sensing equipment, and nothing was found.
• Stereo equipment was taken from two cars during the past week. On May 26, Lewis Compton reported that someone broke into his 1987 Ford Mustang while it was parked at the Rappahannock County Park. A cassette player, amplifier and equalizer were taken, Woodward said.
Sometime during the night of June 1, Michael Brown’s 1991 Ford Explorer was entered while parked outside his house across from the Rappahannock Elementary School. A speaker and amplifier valued at $550 were taken, Woodward said. ,The truck was not locked, he added.
• Chris Miller reported May 31 that thieves took two lamps at the entrance to his home on U.S. 211 near Hillsdale during the previous night. Miller said the lamps were valued at $200.
• An accident with a deer May 28 left a Sperryville man with $1,500 damage to his truck, according to Virginia State Trooper R.J. Davis.
Luther Jenkins, 63, of Sperryville, said a deer ran out into the path of his 1989 Ford pickup as he drove along U.S. 522, just north of Route 620, at 5:15 a.m.
