Tuesday, June 12 is an election
day for the town of Washington, Va., when a mayor and six councilmen are to be elected. This will be a write-in vote for no candidates have qualified for the offices. Outgoing mayor, Mrs. Wallace Critzer, made a statement several weeks ago that she would not seek reelection and would not accept the office on any conditions. Washington has been ruled by “ladies” for the past 12 years. In 1950 an all-woman slate was voted into office in a write-in election.
