play performed at RCHS on May 28 and 30 was the romantic comedy “Crossing Delancey” by Susan Sandler, the setting and the characters typical of Eastside New York City in the not too distant past.
Faculty producer Lori Pfalzgraf followed last year’s success of “The Miracle Worker” with the Drama Club’s second hit in a row. She was fortunate this year to have Susan Estes back from college in time to assume responsibility for the final direction. Ms. Estes has not only proven herself to be a talented and dependable actress but she has fine instincts and creative insight to become a skilled director. We encourage her to keep up the good work.
The two-act frill length play was given splendid interpretation by the five student actors, all of whom were given rewarding parts to perform. Jennifer Foster was confident and delightful as the igenue lead, Izzy (Isabelle) who finally was able to decide which man would be best for her to share her life. Her love scenes and especially her monologues were well played.
Alice Reeve had the biggest acting challenge in portrayal of a middle-aged ethnic grandmother. Her characterization, folk-dancing and especially the creative contributions she brought to Bubbie were wonderful to witness.
Heather Rossiter brought just the right balance of ethnicity and aggressiveness to the irritating marriage broker, Hannah. She worked
