very hard to be believable in a difficult role and she was, creating an effective foil for Bubbie.
J Swofford was convincing as Tyler, the “other man,” a sophisticated, self-centered author whose intentions to Izzy are not always honorable. This was Mr. Swofford’s first acting challenge and we hope it will not be his last.
Sam the Pickleman, the romantic leading man who wins Izzy at the end of the second act, was played by Jason Fox with quiet charm, good timing and a lot of real humor. Mr. Fox has grown so much in confidence and acting skills since last year that he was a joy to watch. The audience was rooting for him the entire evening.
A word of appreciation must go to the technical crew, to Jeremy Tole, back from UVa. to take charge of setting the stage lighting, to Joe Dunagan, Justin Davis and Clint Carlson for the attractive and workable setting, to Maggie Rogers for fine help with the costumes, and to Katrina Lindholm, Tim Mahoney and Carrie Naramore for production assistance wherever it was needed.
Special thanks to the good RCHS friends who loaned props and helped with a myriad of services. Finally, thanks to those wonderful neighbors who bought tickets and gave support where it was most needed, “out front” on both nights.
