The state requires that school boards update their six year plans, which actually only cover two years, every other year.
The plan calls for the school system to continue to emphasize the basic subjects — reading, math and science, to extend whole language to third grade next year and fourth grade the following year.
It also calls for the division to have a consultant on expansion next year and architectural plans the following year, to develop plans for upgrading the earth science lab next year and renovate it the following year, to study the need for a school nurse next year, and report the findings to the School Board the following year.
