Old fashion field day
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold an old fashion field day with a pig roast, horseshoe tournament, trophies will be awarded, a greasy pig contest for the children, trophies will be awarded, live band and volleyball beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, June 13. Carry-out meals will also be available.
Burke family reunion
The families of the late Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will hold a reunion on Sunday, June 14 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, bringing a picnic lunch and beverage, and meet old and new friends. Lunch will be served at 12:30.
Trip to Myrtle Beach
The Bethel Baptist Church Sunday School and Youth will be sponsoring a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Aug. 27-30. Cost for adults is $125 and half-price for children 12 and under. To sign up call Alberta Brown at 937-5427 or Pearl Groves at 937-4720.

Benefit open house, show
An open house, craft show and health fair to benefit Amissville Ruritan’s building fund will be held by Early’s Carpet, Sonjas Oafts, I’m so Karin’ Florist and Gems Carpet Cleaning Service at Early’s Carpet, U.S. 211, one mile west of Amissville Post Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. The Rappahannock Library Board meets every fourth Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. The meeting is open to the public.
Open house at Wakefield
Wakefield School in Marshall will hold an Open House and BackTo-School day for anyone interested in learning more about this unique school. The faculty will be presenting a series of classes and workshops for parents of students from Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12. The Open House will be held at the school in Marshall on Saturday, June 13. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and “classes” will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
