Also honored with “Golden Pen” awards were Maggie Piper, the principal author of the grant application that won the $609,000 grant from the RJR Nabisco Company, and Joyce Brown, the principal author of the “at risk” grant from the federal government.
Finally School Board Chairman Beverly Masaie, noting that Dr. Gangel has helped the school system receive more than $1 million in grants, presented him with an award from the central office staff recognizing “our $1 million superintendent.”
