Dr. Gangel also introduced the board to a self-evaluation program for tenured faculty that has been piloted this year. He said some teachers want to use the self-evaluation, while others don’t. He suggested that the board allow the school system to continue to use the new process for those who prefer it.
With the self-evaluation, teachers send out evaluation forms to parents and collect the data from' returned forms. They also arrange to have other teachers visit their classrooms to evaluate how well they are meeting certain objectives.
