A fourth judge will be added to the 20th Circuit Court next year if the General Assembly approves.
Judge W. Shore Robertson, of Warrenton, said last week that increasing caseloads have overwhelmed the three-judge circuit, which includes Rappahannock, Fauquier and Loudoun counties.
Robertson hears cases primarily in Fauquier and Rappahannock, while Judges Thomas D. Home and James H. Chamblin preside in the Loudoun County court, where most of the circuit’s cases are heard.
Circuit courts, the state’s only ;court of general jurisdiction, handle « variety of civil and criminal matters, ranging from divorces to serious criminal cases.
