A park ranger patrolling near Oventop Mountain June 5 arrested Franklin Scott Wheeler, 31, a sailor who was AWOL from the Navy Submarine School in Groton, Conn.
M^j. Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office said Wheeler has admitted to five breakins at cabins in the Old Hollow area. Streapy said Wheeler told him he left Groton Feb. 21, taking a bus to Harper’s Ferry, W.Va., and then hiking to the Shenandoah National Park.
