the Bolivar Herald. A copy of which is being sent. Mrs. Hook, the librarian, was most helpful, and extended the hours (closing time being 4 o’clock I did not arrive until 3:45, she kept the place open for me until 4:35).
As my trip was short, the culmination of Saturday’s events took place by Benton taking me out for dinner. Before that, I had gone back to his house where he showed me two very old photos. One was of his father and aunts. The other was of a gathering at his grandmother Lucy’s house with all the family present except Richard. Benton being an infant in the house (not pictured) asleep at the time. Copies of which are forthcoming.
I also, in the time lapse between visiting with the Roberts’ and going back to Benton’s, went out on Route 32 east of Bolivar to Halfway. That is, I went to the Reed Cemetery in Halfway where our late cousin, sister to Bill Roberts, Lucy Roberts Lane, is buried. Lucy Roberts Lane, bom 3 October 1889, died 30 September 1991, being 102 years, 11 months, 27 days of age. Lucy left nine known children, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren.
