unanimously to accept the budget drafted by treasurer Brad Fisher. Mayor Newbill Miller told the Council that the yearly budget was a working document. “We must approve any expenditure, anyway,” Miller said. “This is a plan, a working budget.”
The budget, itemized separately, called for $10,955 in income and $8,110 in expenses, with major •income from bank stock tax, sales tax and revenue sharing. The biggest expense, the Washington Water Works, has a separate budget and was not included in the town budget approved at Wednesday’s meeting.
Amissville Fire Department and Rescue Squad members opened their annual fundraising carnival Wednesday, June 16 at the carnival grounds located on Route 211. The carnival will continue through Saturday. The grand parade will begin Thursday’s activities with line-up at 6:30 and grand march at 7:00. Floats, marching units, majorettes,^ fire and rescue equipment and more will be included in the line of march. A box supper will be sold on the carnival grounds at the food stand sponsored by the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
