In other action, Mayor Dean Morehouse reported to council that three firms had bid on the water project. The low bidder was Rappawan of Front Royal, with an offer of $455,022.50, only 6.6 per cent above the original engineer’s estimate of $430,800 prepared four years ago.
Morehouse also told council that if they can get the banking matters closed quickly they will lock in an interest rate of 5.5 percent as opposed to the 6.125 percent they had expected to pay.
Only one firm was willing to bid on building a new well house. At $166,000, the bid was way above the original extiraate of $50,000.
