Lennie are resting on a river bank just a short hike away from their next job. Lennie is petting a mouse, enjoying the soft touch of its fur while oblivious to its crusher! hear).

As they enjoy the campfire (the flickering flames are a marvelous piece of stagecraft devised by props manager Glen August), Lennie insists on hearing yet again George’s dream of a small farm. This mythic Eden will provide them with all they need to “live off the fat of the land.” And Lennie aches to care for the rabbits, hoping they will be big enough to withstand his caresses.
George hopes the two of them can hold a job long enough to raise a small stake, but his simple plans are framed by Lennie’s incessant mantra: “Tell me about the rabbits, George.”
The next morning the two of them show up at the farm meet another dreamer, the bunk house sweep Candy, played by Norm Gettsinger.
