The portion of the play performed at the conference featured former teacher Dorothy Butler telling those at the Baptist women’s convention about raising children.

Mary Groves said she had enjoyed having a part in a play for “the first time since elementary school.” She said when people first encounter the play, they notice the humor, “but there is a lot of truth in it too.”

She said the experience of producing the play “brought the black churches together” and said she hppes the play can be produced again bringing in members of white churches also.

Lilian Aylor said, “We had a lot of fun getting the play together. It brought back childhood memories.” She said Mrs. Boddie taught her in fourth through seventh grades. “We thank God for a teacher like her,” 'Mrs. Aylor said. She said an appreciation service given at the time of Mrs. Boddie’s retirement led to the scholarship fund, and “we solicit "your support in this effort.”
