The writer ot Hebrews' phrase,"let us ... go on to maturity" (Hebrews 6:1) has meaning lor all people, especially that long suffering group of people known as parents. Mark Twain put his finger on what causes parents to suiter when he said, "When I was fourteen I thought my dad was the most ignorant man In the world. But when I became twenty-one, I was amazed how much the old man had learned in seven short years. ” That reality of such an experience not only causes pain in parents, it also produces maturity. Maturity comes from being able to survive some of the frustrations that come from parenting children, especially during teenage years.
