The grounds of Airlie in Warrenton — where the concept of earth Day was birthed during a student leadership conference there 25 years ago — will be host to a variety of activities throughout the weekend of April 21-23.
Included will be an art show, “Visions of the Natural World” Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., the dedication of the Roger Tory Peterson Butterfly Garden with a book signing by Mr. Peterson on Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon and 4 to 5 p.m., “The Earth Day Birthday Ball” Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 a.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, environmental dress suggested!
A worship service of prayer and music at the Pavilion on Sunday at 9 a.m. and “Stories from the Dust in the Comer,” a multi-media dance-drama by Rappahannock’s own Laurie Marshall on Sunday at 2 p.m. will round out the weekend’s events there.
Undoubtedly there will be ohter activities in “big” Washingtoh, and a quick call to the Resource Center should privide an update of events in the region as they become known.
