The board also agreed to a new policy for requesting assistance from the Friends of the Rappahannock Public Library. All such requests must be approved by the full board, and communicated to the chairman of the Friends by a designated member of the head librarian.
The board tabled consideration of a revised policy for the use of the meeting room.
The board agreed to try to have the roof and all the wood trim on the library painted this year. The paint is flaking off or peeling in several places, Chairman Roberta Anderson reported. Member John McCarthy said the county could probably take care of obtaining the paint and providing trusties from the jail to do the painting.
Chairman of the buildings and grounds committee, Frank Warner reported he and Mrs. Anderson had purchased a chairs for the librarian and a computer workstation and a book cart at a used furniture auction. He said he was still looking for a desk for the librarian to be put in the staff room.
He said that unfinished items include concerns about the front door, acquiring a bike rack, door mat, moving one handicapped sign, and making a decision on coating for the driveway.
