It is said that at the time of the Crucifixion, the dogwood was the size of the oak. Because of its strength, it was chosen for the Cross. The tree was sorrowful. Despite His suffering, Jesus sensed its distress. With limitless pity, He said... “Because of your sorrow, you shall never again grow large enough to be a Cross. You will be slender and bent, your blossoms a Cross, with two long and two short petals, the outer edges of each a nail print, rusty brown and stained red; and in the center a crown of thorns...so all who see shall remember.”
This Easter, as we worship, may we remember the selfless and unconditional love of our Savior, and
take it into our heart.
