opportunity to manage a simulated farmers cooperative with the aid of a computer. This simulated training taught the students the many things needed to run a successful cooperative.
The representatives competed for an all-expense paid trip to the national conference in Minnesota. This was determined by two written tests, handing in their interviews, and by being courteous and cooperative. Over sixty students attended the conference from various parts of Virginia. Sixteen of the students were selected to attend nationals with six alternates. Nancie Gallegos was selected as an alternate.
Willie said, “I feel the experience will benefit me in the future. I learned that the choices and decisions that are made in a business .directly effect the business’ success."
Nancie said, “I learned that it takes a great deal of hard work to run a business.”
Scholarships to the conference were provided by the Rappahannock Farmers’ Coop and the Rappahannock Electric Coop.
