If they have managed their time well, they have already prepared for the next day’s classes and can wait another day to prepare for the classes they had the day of the game.
Advantages of the semester block schedule are that students only have four classes at a time, and that they can accelerate their schedules by taking two classes in a subject in one year, two classes of mathematics, science or a foreign language for example. In general students are not allowed to take two years worth of required English classes in one year.
Most report that students are particularly likely to take more foreign languages under a block schedule system, and under the semester block it is fairly common for students to take two years worth in one year.
Teachers who have worked under that system report they get to know their students better since they are teaching about half as many at any one time.
