Wayland’s first trip overseas was three summers ago when he spent six weeks in the Soviet Union, where the people had been oppressed for nearly 70 years by Communism. Several changes have occurred since then, including a name change, The Confederation of Independent States.
Sean says, “Doors have opened up to the gospel and incredible numbers of people have responded by putting their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. With an intense enthusiasm, these people have embraced their new religious freedom. That’s why I want to go back, to disciple and encouraged these people in their new found faith.”
Wayland left May 22 to co-lead a team of eight students for a six-week missions trip to Moldova, a tiny agricultural republic which broke away from Russia when Communism began to crumble.
