Co-Valedictorian Shannon Eastham went through the various disciplines in school telling what had been learned in each. In English they learned the importance of writing well. In foreign languages they learned to appreciate other cultures. “In science we learned to question everything. In math we learned there is more than one way to solve problems....We learned to make an extra effort for others and for ourselves,” she said.
Dr. David Smith received a gown with bars on it for earning his doctorate. Masters degree graduates Melinda Russell, David van de Graaff, Carol Nowakoski, and Christine Jenkins received masters’ degree hoods.
Students presented retiring government teacher Dennis Wingfield and math teacher Helen Williams with gift certificates to a motel in the Baltimore Inner Harbor and tickets to an Orioles- Yankee game. Mrs. Massie presented Mr. Wingfield with a small weather station.

The Principal’s Scholarship Award for one year at Lord Fairfax Community College w'ent to Daniel Spilman Jenkins-Dodson.
The Faith Mountain Scholarship worth up to $2,000 was awarded to Hope Dunn.
The Math, Science, Engineering Scholarship was presented to Derek Daczewitz. This scholarship is worth up to $5,000.
The Lions’ Club Scholarship went to Janet Hitt.
The James J. Kilpatrick Writing Award went to Jessica Arnold.
The Lord Fairfax Community College Board Scholarship went to Janet Hitt.
RCHS Athletic Booster’s Scholarships went to Susan Jewell and Luke Zindel.
