Support Settle
To the Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks for the many phone calls and words of support received in the past months as 1 considered conducting a campaign for this November Sheriffs election.
Since my retirement in March I have enjoyed the extra time spent with my wife and family and have decided at this time not to commit myself to the time and rigors of conducting a campaign.
However, this decision does not change my belief that our county needs a change of leadership in the Sheriffs Office.
Several weeks ago 1 became aware of Gary Settle’s intention to challenge Sheriff Woodward. Gary and I recently met for lunch and it is clear to me that he and 1 share many views on positive changes needed in our Sheriffs Department. 1 am convinced that it will take an individual with Gary’s background, training and commitment to implement these changes. I encourage all those who had voiced their support for me to devote their efforts towards Gary’s election in November. It is my intention to assist him in any way I cap.
