There was a rash of traffic accidents in the county early this month.
Eleven year-old J.D. Wines of Chester Gap was run over by a trailer in the Sperryville Firemens’ Parade on the evening of June 1. According to his mother Debbie Wines, J.D. was trying to climb up onto the Chester Gap Hillbillies float, which he supposed to ride on, when his shoe apparently got caught and he was dragged under the float. She said the two tires ran over his back, left leg and ankle, and that he has tire tracks up his back. He also has a badly bruised chest and some neck and face bruises.
An accident involving Clyde Lillard, 88, of Flint Hill and Greg Thomas Williams, 20, of Flint Hill, resulted in Mr. Lillard being charged by State Trooper Sean Knick with failure to give the right of way.
The accident took place June 1, on Route 522 in Flint Hill, .2 mile north of Route 647. Apparently Mr. Lillard attempted to make a left turn which led his 1985 Buick into the path of Mr. Williams’ 1991 Ford pickup. Mr. Lillard was injured in the accident but no further information was available.
Kevin Dewayne Jolliffe, 19, of Amissville, was involved in a one-person accident when his 1990 2-door Chevrolet ran off the right edge of the road on U.S. 211, .7 mile west of Route
