Cathi Cody Shiff will speak to Jeffersonton Homemakers at 1 p.m. tomorrow, June 15 at Jeffersonton Community Center. She will discuss her experiences as a member of the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department mission to Oklahoma City following the bombing. Everyone is invited to attend.
Amissville Ruritan Club holds its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. on June 15 at Amissville Bethel Baptist Church. As reported last week, since plans for the Turtle Lake project have not materialized, planned discussion on that issue has been canceled. The meeting instead will be a discussion on revisions to Club’s constitution and bylaws. All members are encouraged to attend.
Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the free Hartland Nutrition Conference this week. Scheduled for Thursday and Friday are 8:30-10 a.m. on Thursday, June 15 — Dr. Hansen discusses “Physiology of Digestion”; Cooking School 10 a.m. to 12; Hydrotherapy 2:30-4 p.m.; Dr. Hansen discusses “Fads and Fears in Health Reform” 4 to 5 p.m. On Friday, Dr. Hansen discusses “Diagnosis of Nutritional Disorders” from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Dr. Standish discusses “Depression” from 10 a m. to noon. Massage Lab will be held 2:30 to 5 p.m. Anyone staying for lunch should register at 672-3100, Ext. 233. Hartland is located on Route 614, just off Route 15 between Culpeper and Orange.
Amissville Health and Fitness Group enjoyed having Mrs. Sarah Calvert Hitt as its guest on Tuesday. To obtain a copy of her cookbook, “Cooking With Less Salt, Less Sugar, Less Salt” call her at 825-0083. Her healthy recipes also appear each Wednesday in the Culpeper Star Exponent.
The Health and Fitness Group meets weekly at 11 a.m. at Amissville United Methodist; however, classes will be canceled July 4 and 11 because of the holiday and VBS. Beginning July 18, the group will discuss the manual used in the recent Hartland Cooking Class and Health Seminar. Every one is invited to attend these free meetings.
