he trusts in the second amendment and the entire Bill of Rights. He supports agriculture with full funding, he said, for the extension service and 4H, and the land use program. “We want to move that positive existing Allen agenda forward,-’ he said.
Sue Scheer, running against Katzen, said that she does not believe that her opponent fairly represents this district. She feels that Mr. Katzen votes for special interests, not for the majority of the people in his district.
Mrs. Scheer said that education is the “burning issue” in this campaign. She said the campaign is about "our children and grandchildren and about what kind of start they get; a choice between dismantling the government or making it more effective and focussed; about giving more power to big developers or giving more encouragement to long range planning, and between building prisons or building schools. No issue defines us more than the issue of the future of public education.”
She said that Mr. Katzen >vas one of only two who voted against a bill that dedicated all lottery funds to education, and he did not support Goals 2000 which was introduced by former president George Bush.
