Some of the people at the library for; Saturday ’s program subscribe to such on-line services as America Online, CompuServe or Prodigy. They wanted to know if they could use these services toll free through SMA. Mr. Platko said they could access America Online but not CompuServe or Prodigy.

Although other companies are providing Internet access for people with Culpeper telephone exchanges, SMA is the only one making it available to Rappahannock customers with 987 or 675 phone numbers.

The library suggests that firsttime users bring someone experienced with them, since library staff are still learning themselves and will not have time to help each user.

Once Internet access is available to patrons at the library, the library will make a computer available to Internet users from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The library’s computer will not be available for e-mail or newsgroups.

A second session with Mr. Platko is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at the library.

Call the library at 675-3780 to find out if Internet access is available or for further information.
