two young children in school here, she became involved with the school as a volunteer and decided to get back into teaching. She took classes to become certified in early childhood education at James Madison University.'
“I’m very glad to be here. This is the best place to be,” she said.
Fifth grade teacher Eve Short will be team teaching with Amy Saxton. They will have two of the four sections of fifth grade. Ms. Short will teach math, science and social studies, while Ms. Saxton will teach language arts including reading, writing and spelling.
She will have one group for most of the morning and the other for most of the afternoon.
She graduated from Radford University with a double major in psychology and interdisciplinary studies for the middle school curriculum.
She taught for half a year in her home county of Pulaski. “I’ve worked in a team situation before, and I really enjoy that.”
She said she likes the area because the mountains remind her of home, and she was very impressed with the school administration. “I agree with what they believe,” she said.
She is living with her aunt in Centreville but is looking for a place in Rappahannock.
Linda Way will be teaching sixth grade social studies and teaching one section of language arts. This will be her first year teaching although she worked with the school system in educational testing last year. Her husband came here as a fifth-grade teacher last year, and they live in Washington.
