before the first crisp leaves crackle along the pavement, we make preparations for the annual exodus as millions of youth return to school. Though some youngsters -anticipate this rite with more enthusiasm than others, they will usually agree upon one fact. They hate homework!

Why have homework anyway? Is it really necessary? Well, perhaps it is necessary, for though the classroom is the place of learning, homework is an exercise in application...the time to use that knowledge ..even when other activities are tempting; but first we must learn.

Our spiritual life somewhat parallels this concept. We attend God's house and study His Word. The rest of the week is “homework", as we apply this wisdom in our daily lives, away from the sanctuary and amidst temptation. As one minister expressed this, “It is not as important what you feel when you are here as when you have left here."

Attend your chosen place of worship this Sabbath; and after you have learned of God’s will...always do your homework.
