Richard Jones Sr.
Richard (Bunny) Russell Jones Sr., 56, of Brandy Station died on Sunday, Aug. 20 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Brandy Station to the late Robert Russell and Elizabeth Suter Jones.
Mr. Jones worked for Culpeper Motor Corporation for 27 years and was a self-employed mechanic for nearly 10 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association and was a certified instructor for the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Jones was Chief of the Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department for five and one half years where he was a member since 1973, receive the R.J. Bryce Award in 1994 which is the most prestigious award given by the department, in 1995 he attained lifetime membership. He was also a member of the Fire and Rescue Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Lynette Jones of Brandy Station; his former wife, Ellen X. Jones of Culpeper; two daughters, Barbara J. Hill of Orange and Stephanie Rae Jones of Brandy Station; one son, Richard (Rusty) Russell Jones Jr. of Brandy Station and five grandchildren.
He is also survived by five brother, Robert L. Jones and James M. Jones, both of Culpeper, Donald E. Jones of Warrenton, Victor Allen Jones of Amissville and Reginald Ray Jones of Dale City; two sister, Elsie E. Garrett of Oak Harbor, Washington and Betty J. Cook of Culpeper.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Found & Sons Chapel.
Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
