Silas Martin
Silas Marion Martin, Jr., 65, of Amissville died Aug. 15 at his home.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Rappahannock, a son of the late Silas H., Sr. and Virgie Scott Martin.
He was a graduate of the Washington High School in 1950 and resided in Amissville his entire life.
Mr. Martin was a member of the Amissville Baptist Church and he was a cub master of Cub Scout Pack 50 in Amissville for many years.
For the last several years he ran several farmer’s markets in Warrenton, Fairfax and Arlington.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Crater Martin; two daughters, Linda James of Rixeyville and Deborah Wharton of Amissville; one son, Gregory Martin of Amissville; two sisters, Anna Mae Rhodes of Annandale and Doris Stover of Warrenton; one brother, Douglas Martin of Mechanicsville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug 18 at the Amissville Baptist Church by Rev. Thomas Everett.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nelson Burner, Stanley Settle, Charlie Priest, Johnnie Hitt, Jerry Curtis and Bob Murphy.
