The Sperryville Bridge Club was entertained on Friday night at the home of Mrs. Dot Estes.

Those playing in addition to Mrs. Estes were Mrs. Edna Metzinger, Mrs. Mary Q. Snead and Mrs. Lucia Kilby.

Workshop

Members of District VI of Virginia, NSDAR, met for a workshop and lunch at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper on Aug. 8. The District Chairman, Edna H. Metzinger, a member of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, opened the meeting at which seventy members from twenty chapters of the twenty-two chapters in the District were in attendance.

Panel members were, Agnes G. Puryear, State Treasurer; Alice Johnson, State National Achievement Award Chairman; Carole Coffman, National Defense State Chairman and District Parliamentarian; Elizabeth Anderson, Vice Director of District VI; Emily T. Richardson, District Secretary-Treasurer and Elizabeth Flynn, District Chaplain.

One of the important discussions centered on the difference between requirements for the National • Achievement Award versus former requirements for the Honor Roll — a measure to make achieving the award fairer for small chapters. Also the procedures for remitting dues, pledges and other moneys were reviewed.

For Virginia’s ad in the January - 1996 issue of the DAR magazine, this I District will feature the historically ! prominent Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, built in 1740, and which is the oldest Lutheran Church in the United States in continuous use.

Introduced by the District ; Chairman were Louise F. Eastham as . District Chairman for the DAR Good l Citizens Award and Louise T. Grogan * as District Press Chairman. ' Announcement was made of the District VI fall meeting to be held Sept. 15 which all members are urged to attend.
