In Amissville, both were active in community affairs including the Amissville United Methodist Church, the Rappahannock Lion’s Club and real estate.
Mrs. Stuart served briefly as the Director of Nursing at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mrs. Stuart was widowed in 1980. In memory of her husband, she donated Stuart Field to the Amissville Ruritan Club for use as a ballpark for the youth of the community.
She resided at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Communitv since 1989.
In 1991, she was selected as Amissville’s Citizen of the Year.
She is survived by a brother, Henry W. Underwood of Ellicott City, Md. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Amissville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marvin C. Cook officiated.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
