Clarice Burke

Clarice Golden Burke, 91, of Front Royal died Friday, Aug. 18 at Royal Haven Rest Home in Front Royal.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday at the Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by Dr. R. Mark Jordon.

Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Burke was born Aug. 20, 1903, in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Giles Mellon and Alma Grimsley Golden.

She was an elementary school teacher for the Warren County public school system and a member of First Baptist Church in Front Royal. She was a member of the South River Garden Club and the Retired Teachers Association.

She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Burke.

Surviving are five sisters, Edith Sullivan of Austin, Texas, Geneva Hawkins of Sperryville, Kay Gassert of Fairfax, Ruby Jones and Elizabeth Edmonds, both of Front Royal and a brother, Stanely Golden of Front Royal.
