It took an hour to drive to Midland from Washington, but just 24 minutes after take-off, we were flying over the high school, where we had an eagle’s eye view of soccer, baseball and softball games all in progress simultaneously.

Our altitude of 1,100 feet afforded us a fabulous close-up view, though not quite close enough to see people waving at us (which I heard about the next day).

Though Keenan is a very young pilot, he is very cautious and was meticulous in going through the long list Qf pre-flight checks before executing a perfect takeoff. He seemed confident about his flying, and negotiated steep banks, especially when we got over the high school. Banking the plane means sloping the plane laterally on a turn so that the inside wing is low and the outside wing is high, which made it easy for me to photo
