Whether it is intentional or not, the School Board is allowing the administration to turn our schools more and more toward socialism. One parent sent me a letter stating that many other parents in the county have sent their children to private schools because they feel that the county schools are “hopelessly unable to educate their children.” It appears that our elected School Board feels the same way. Four months into their term they tried to turn the schools over to the federal government.
Goals 2000 states that this legislation is “the reauthorization of all Federal education program;” i.e., “Parent classes,” outcome based education, Federal version of sex education including “condom distribution,” “midnight basketball,” “race and gender equal curriculum,” hiring quotes for teachers, and “one stop shopping” for health care, social services, child . care for students and related services” (what ever that means).
The latter program has been used in East Shroudsburg, Penn., for school conducted gynecological exams on sixth grade girls which were not authorized by their parents. The harmless physicals that were conducted in school when I attended were limited to eyes, ears, “stick out your tongue,” height, weight, etc., but there are no limitations under Goals 2000. If the readers want more specifics, get your own copy of the entire text and read it yourself.
If we read pro and con articles objectively on Goals 2000, we will find there is not one single lofty goal of this law that cannot be implemented locally with parental involvement.
