dents participated in an extended unit on traditional tales in English class. She had them create playlets using shadow puppetry. The assembly will include a presentation of “Tappin the Land Turtle,” an African-American folktale. An uplifting medley of songs by the Show Choir, under the direction of Melinda Russell, will conclude the assembly.
During lunch on Friday, the students will have an opportunity to browse the exhibits, fly kites or see artists at work. Each student has signed up for two workshops or demonstrations to participate in during the afternoon. Twenty different workshops are being offered. These include such diverse topics as “How to Tie Artificial Flies” led by Roger Flincham and “Papermaking” led by Nina Moore.
The general public is invited to come view exhibits between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They are also invited to see the assembly, but should plan to be seated in the high school auditorium promptly at 11 a.m. or at noon (2 performances).
